NZ Open

An interesting day for our media team who were taken to the NZ Open at The Hills and given a behind the scenes tour.

While there we were proud to see ex-Arrowtown student Laura Hoskin competing in the open.

Triathlon

We had an amazing day of individual and team events. The entire senior team participated and gave it everything. It was wonderful to see our highest amount of individual entries. Ka paid!

Packing Smart

Dugal popped in to explain how to pack smart. He showed us what to wear and how he packed everything from the gear  list into his bag. We took notes in our diaries. Dugal explained the importance of our day bag and what should be included. He described how he has categories of things in bags and being in bags stops them being blown away or being lost individually.

Media Group

Congratulations to our successful applicants for the media leadership position. Looks like they are going to be busy with a visit to the NZ Golf Open!

PALs Leaders

Congratulations to our PALs leadership group who have finished their training and ready for action. They will be sitting down with Mr Bailey to confirm what their responsibilities are for Arrowtown School. We do know they will be setting up games for younger students and working with Mrs Horne.

House Leaders

Congratulations to our House Leaders for 2019! There was tough competition across all the house groups and it took some carefully crafted speeches and letters of applications to be selected to take this prestigious role. We look forward to seeing how you embrace this fantastic leadership position!

Road Patrol Leaders

Congratulations to our Road Patrol team for 2019! You have had a fantastic start to the year by turning up on time regularly and doing a great job, keep it up!

House Leaders Applications and Interviews

Striving to be a House Leader

We got told that we had a chance to be a House Leader, this was for anyone in year 8 to try.
Lots of people decided that they would try and so they did. Our application needed to include a current CV and formal letter about why you should get the job. We also had to complete an application letter which included a signature from another student.

Lots of people sent their applications in over 3 days and Ms Neill was hammered with emails.
There was always a buzz around the year ⅞ area about who could get the job, who was good enough and who was even confident enough to speak for the job.

After speeches on Thursday the 15th the buzz turned into talk and this was everywhere people couldn’t stop talking about who they think was going to win. Finally, the moment of truth arrived people were quiet and listening... Eva - Room 17

PALs

On Wednesday, anyone who was a Playground and Activity Leaders, (or PALs for short) went to Shotover Primary School to learn how to fulfil the role. We learnt how to organise games for disabled people, little kids and kids our age. We also learned how to develop team-building skills with fun challenges in which we needed to work together.  Written by Mia Pagan

Syndicate Meetings

Initially, we are meeting every day for 5 mins to discuss expectations and routines to ensure we are on the same waka. Eventually, we will be meeting once a week to discuss what is happening during the week, celebrate learning and discuss examples of GOLD behaviours. We are also currently learning and practising our new Karakia.
